The first soldier beetle’s a bit out of focus but makes the cut because there’s another one emerging bottom right from ‘overwintering underground as a pupa where it feeds on the eggs and larvae of other insects’ (apparently). The yellowhammer enjoyed a moment of sun. No hares!
