Fernworthy
It’s not often you surprise a heron. Normally they see you coming. This one was so shocked to see us he fell in the stream and got stuck under a branch about 6′ away from us. Eventually he disentangled himself and flew off protesting indignantly. No photos because I was too busy wondering how to rescue him without getting skewered / wet. The baby mistle thrush is a psychedelic treat though – I did manage to get that. And two warblers (different species, but I couldn’t tell you what. Garden warbler and Willow warbler perhaps?). The swallows and squirrel are more my level. I saw my first swift too. Trying to photograph swifts is a fool’s game, nothing but a fool’s game.
