Scorhill – Shovel Down – Manga Crossing – (round/along the top wall to) Quintin’s Man – Sittaford Tor – Manga Crossing – (along Teign to) Teign Turn and Scorhill

Today’s excitement was seeing a peregrine catch a meadow pipit (?) in mid-air. I’m 90% sure it was a peregrine but it didn’t hang about for a considered and leisurely photoshoot (in fact, weirdly, it flew very high into the sky with its victim and stayed there until I couldn’t see it any more). I saw a kestrel slightly later which was much smaller. Huge numbers of stone chats, meadow pipits and wheatears. A heron doing very odd postures – sunbathing? A reed bunting and various damselflies (large red, emerald but there were lots of common blue ones too). Bog asphodel and round leaved sundew.

Today’s other excitement was wrenching my ankle and deciding that skinny dipping in the Teign would make an excellent ice bath substitute – which it did.
