Rushford Mill – Fingle Bridge

Yellow Rattle, Cuckooflower (Lady’s Smock), a purple orchid (Early Purple Orchid?), Common Cow Wheat, Black Cap (not a great photo but he gets included for his singing), baby Marsh Tits (or possibly Willow Tits!), oil beetles, flies (good flies today!), and a Small Pearl Bordered Fritillary.

All of which pale into insignificance beside the fact that I tripped over a tree root and landed on and wrecked my zoom lens. Hopefully just the lens – I’ll see. Anyway, the small pearl-bordered fritillary probably wishes he’d closed his ears (oval-shaped tympanal membranes at the base of the wings, with unusual domes in the middle – in case you were wondering) although he now has a wider vocabulary.
