Fernworthy Forest
I couldn’t work out what the black baubles were round the thistle – once I’d blown them up on screen, it turned out they were fly carcases – nice! Lots of dead things today – not sure why – deer, bumblebee, fly with its prey. I looked up the bumblebee to see if they, like ants, get infected with cordyceps fungus which makes them climb – no, apparently. The bird’s foot trefoil, selfheal, foxgloves, robin and tree creeper are all a bit more upbeat/tasteful/etc.
