Deer Park – Whiddon Woods:
Torrential showers and sunshine – so everything’s a bit glistening. I surprised a fox and spotted a buzzard before he saw me. I sat with my flask of tea waiting for a kingfisher where I saw him last but he stood me up. Lots of lichens, ancient beeches whose huge branches reached the ground, a group of extraordinary 3′ tussocks of grass in the middle of a bog and two Peter Randall-Page sculptures.
