Fernworthy Forest
Not the greatest photos of a whirligig beetle – but I’ve never seen one climb before. The siskin looked like a young one but surely they can’t have fledged so it must be a female. The ichneumon was on the prowl for something. The dead tree looked odd – I didn’t get close enough to work out why the tip was so much thinner – a shoot? just the heartwood? a curved up branch that just looks like it’s the tip?
