Fernworthy Forest
The band-eyed brown horse fly looks deceptively innocent. They were hungry today. large skipper, small copper, ivy cellophane bee, keeled skimmer, four spotted skimmer, golden ringed dragonfly, red admiral, beautiful demoiselle, great spotted woodpecker, sheep’s bit, a fly agaric (it seems pretty unconvincing to me but seek is adamant), siskin and, my highlight, a five-spot Burnet. I saw perhaps two last year – but five or six today, in two places.
