Scorhill – Teignhead Farm – North Teign:

The North Teign was especially beautiful this morning – although I seem to have been too busy climbing down rocks, trying not to fall in, and looking for newts to take any wide views. It was all about the cuckoo today. I spent about 15 minutes watching it fly from tree to tree and between branches, singing, feeding. Other highlights – a linnet, stone chats (and a young one – more or less exactly where I saw a young one last year), skylarks, pipits, a low and very nearby buzzard (by buzzard standards). I became slightly obsessed by waterweed and ripples (it’s getting towards the time of year when I become obsessed by flies). I saw several lizards but was too slow to photograph them. The Large Red Damselflies and the Green Tiger Beetle were looking stunning in the sunlight
