Chagford – Rushford Mill – Deer Park – Whiddon Wood – Fingle Bridge
It was so sunny it would have been rude not to go for a walk. The leaves, beech nuts and conkers are beginning to fall. The thistles are about to shed. A gatekeeper and peacock were spectacularly photogenic – otherwise it was mainly seed-heads, flowers and overlapping sunlit leaves that caught the eye. I saw marsh tits, wrens and robins but only the redstart and dipper posed for photos. The edge on view of the spider’s web has come out surprisingly clearly, given that it was swaying in the wind.
