Deer Park – Whiddon Wood – Hannicombe Wood – Charles Wood – Hore Wood – Houndsmoor Wood – Wooston Castle – Seaman’s Borough – Upperton Weir – and back via Fingle Bridge Inn (and a bowl of chips and a coffee).
In fact, you’d be hard-pressed to know when one wood became the next. I ambled along with the hound and returned, slightly surprised to find that 6 hours had passed. There were lots of dragonflies but all on the wing. Spiders’ webs, bramble flowers, a nuthatch, honeysuckle, red-eyed damselflies, Agrion on waterweed, and, obviously, flies – you can never have enough flies.
