Deer Park – Whiddon Woods – Fingle Bridge:
I set off at 6, to beat the promised ferocious weather. In the event, it was spitting with big heavy rain drops as I got back to the car. Fearless baby robins stared me out this morning – along with willow/marsh tits, song thrush, nut hatch and a dipper. I sat and watched damselflies and dragonflies for ages but they didn’t rest on anything long enough for me to catch them. The silver-washed fritillary was very dramatic and happy to pose on several bramble flowers. The harvestman (after the chaffinch) looks like he’s in a sea of harvestman legs. I didn’t notice he was there while I was taking the photo – too busy concentrating on the moth – so I’ll never know what was going on.
