Scorhill – Hound Tor – Wild Tor – Watern Tor – Shovel Down
Very misty – I managed to lose the path and did a bit of comedy wandering around aimlessly until I found it again. I knew roughly where it was – but there are loads of pointless sheeptracks near Scorhill which confuse the issue. The app telling me that I was in roughly in the right place wasn’t much help! (I almost had to resort to doing it properly… getting the map and compass out… bearings etc.). I could hear women’s/children’s voices nearby several times but never saw them. Saw a runner with a dog and we grunted ‘a bit foggy!’ at each other as we passed. Lots of granite in the mist, dung bonnets (?), sheep in the mist, cloud hound, wet heather, a favourite patch of bog/stream in between Wild Tor and Watern Tor. The water droplets on spiders webs on the gorse were pretty – but hard to capture how sparkly they were in a photo. On balance, though, it’s lucky I like tramping across the moor in the mist so much.
