Fernworthy Forest

Swathes of the forest have been knocked flat which made the going much more intrepid than usual – much detouring, clambering, balancing etc. – possibly unwise, given that I’ve been out of action with a bad back – possibly wise, given that I’m supposed to keep moving. Not huge amounts going on – it was misty and drizzly for much of the time. The cladonia and fungi were pretty and a lump of bark covered in what looked like drizzled icing caught my eye. A nine point (?) stag wandered slowly across in the distance. The hound and I did our best stalking but he didn’t hang around for a leisurely photoshoot.
