There weren’t as many insects as I’d expected in the flower meadows – cold wind perhaps. The ducklings were hiding in the bush for ages, it looked like they’d been told to keep absolutely silent by their mother whose bill you can see on the left. Further round the reservoir, there were common blue damselflies, lots of garden chafers and a Common Blue – virtually nothing on the hawthorn blossom, though. A pair of redstarts took very little notice of me as I snapped away, the female has been ringed.
